Social Care & Support Courses in London

Supporting people is rewarding work with increasing opportunities. Here at Build, we can help guide you through your first steps or you can develop your career further with our wide range of stimulating courses.

What we do:

Our care and support courses are aimed at those wanting to help others in areas including, adult social care, mental health, youth work, childcare and information, advice or guidance. We welcome applications from those with lived experience in these areas and we work closely with organisations and charities all over London to provide opportunities for learners to make a difference.

Our specialist tutors have first hand knowledge as professionals in their field, making lessons relevant and engaging.

Our stories:

The partnership work of the care and support team was recognised in the Mayor of London’s ‘Skills for Londoners strategy' in June 2018.

Lorraine appeared to be very confident and outgoing, but after a challenging few years she felt she had few options. She was in her fifties, had struggled with alcohol misuse in the past, and was living in temporary hostel accommodation. Lorraine was supported to sign up for an accredited Digital Skills course being run at Thames Reach Employment Academy in partnership with Build. Lorraine has since gone on to study Health and Social Care at Build and hopes to work in the sector, supporting other people the way that she felt she has been supported. In January 2018, she moved into her own flat. She is volunteering with Thames Reach – and has applied for the Thames Reach paid traineeship.

Lorraine says: “I have had to work hard and it hasn’t always been easy. The difference is that I felt people believed in me.”

We are also proud of our learner Nicola who successfully completed the Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness and win the Build Well-Being Award.
