What is the course about?
To enable students to communicate more fully and fluently in a wider range of everyday situations and conversations. The course will also give insight into cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries.
What will we cover?
Food habits, give opinion about past events, expressing wishes, asking and giving advice, describing how you feel, illness and remedies, describing in the past, comparing past and present, describing experiences in the past, celebrations in Spain and Latin America.
Grammar: uses of ser/estar, imperfect, contrast simple past/imperfect, direct object pronouns ,simple past, use of "gustaría + infinitive".
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- Express opinion about past experiences
- Give opinion about food habits
- Describe how you feel
- Give advice, orders and instructions
- Tell an anecdote with increased fluency
- Contrast past and present.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is intended for students who have completed stage 2 upper: module 2 or have an equivalent knowledge of the language.

It is also essential that you have some knowledge of basic grammar terminology such as: a verb, a noun and conjugation. It would be helpful if you had knowledge of more intermediate grammar terminology such as: prepositions, direct and indirect pronouns, adjectives, and adverbs.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The course is based on the communicative approach:
- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate
Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.

LBS08 Spanish revision course in summer or Spanish 3 lower: module 1 in September. Please enrol early to avoid disappointment.
