Get to grips with the challenges and excitement of directing for the theatre– from developing your own production vision to getting the best out of your actors – on this stimulating and intensive course. Simon Bowen has been a professional actor, writer and director for over twenty years. His writing and directing credits include This Time (Arcola Theatre), Need (Soho Theatre) and Free (National Theatre). He has been a writer on attachment at the National Theatre Studio, Soho Theatre and Paines Plough. Most recently, alongside his teaching, Simon has been directing short plays and development workshops at Theatre 503 and The Park Theatre.
Discover the practical elements of directing for the theatre, working on text analysis and beginning to build your director’s toolkit. Learn to motivate actors and create believable, engaging performances as you explore a range of modern texts. You will also act in some scenes. No acting experience necessary.
