What is the course about?
Read and play guitar ensemble arrangements of jazz tunes. The repertoire has been drawn from jazz guitar course study tunes, and arranged by Branco Stoysin. 1 or 2 bassists can be included in the ensemble.

Ensemble rehearsal of musical arrangements.
Playing as part of an ensemble.
Rhythm matters, melody, harmony, good timekeeping
Opportunity to improvise a solo over the arrangement(s).

By the end of this course you should be able to...
Play some jazz standards and original pieces with confidence in an ensemble context.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
For graduates of jazz guitar 2 and 3 and other competent guitarists who can read notation and tablature.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The arrangements are written in staff notation and guitar tab. Parts will be allocated to participants according to ability and preference, i.e. negotiable. You will be expected to learn your parts thoroughly during each session, and master the line(s) by the next session.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
Please bring an acoustic guitar and a guitar tuner.
CDs which contain the tutor's original tunes are available to purchase via his website, or at the first class.

This is a stand-alone advanced activity.
