What is the course about?
On this hands-on practical course you will learn how to create an engaging 3D puppet using a range of materials and bring it to life in an effective stop motion animation sequence. You will learn the principals of animation focusing on pre-planning, timing and movement and how to film your animation using iStopMotion. Using the accessible editing software iMovie you will learn how to edit your animated sequence adding sound effects and music. At the end you will have an exported quick time movie of your animation to take away.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
TThis is for beginners who have had no experience in animation or for those who might want to polish up their animation and model making skills. The course is also invaluable for those who have done digital animation but would like to try a hands-on approach and explore new skills in actually making a puppet and physically animating.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
These practical workshops will be taught by an experienced animator, puppet maker and director of 20 years in the business. You will be taught with guidance throughout, demonstrations, practical exercises, group and individual assistance and hand-outs. You will be introduced to professional sample clips and actual professional TV Stop-Frame Puppets. . Please note the Build uses Apple Mac computers in Digital arts, Film, Animation, Graphics, Illustration, Photography and Web design.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to.)

When I've finished, what course can I do next?
You may now wish to develop your digital animation skills with VK345 Animation with Adobe After Effects so you can learn how to composite and apply effects to your puppet animation. Build offer a range of courses in 2D and 3D Animation, Adobe Animate, Adobe After Effects, Character animation, editing, sound, illustration, cartooning, storyboarding and adobe Photoshop to enhance your animation practice.
