Do you need to develop your English for work? Would you like to work in an office? Not sure if your English or digital skills are good enough? Join this course and learn the English skills you need to answer the phone professionally, take and leave messages, write clear and concise emails and letters on a PC, spell common words correctly and more.

What is the course about?

This course will prepare you for working in an office as a receptionist, administrator or in customer care. You will learn the English you need to be able to do your job well: how to answer and make calls, speak to customers and work colleagues, how to sound professional, take part in meetings, write formal and informal emails and letters and how to spell common words at work. You will also learn some basic digital skills so you can be confident on the computer.

What will we cover?

• the main skills and language you need to work in an office or as a receptionist, administrator or in customer care
• the language needed to answer and make calls
• how to be concise and to the point in meetings and in writing
• how to sound confident and professional
• how to write formal and informal emails and letters on your PC
• how to spell common words at work
• how to punctuate and use grammar correctly
• how to use functions in Word 2016 to make sure your English is correct
• how to deal with difficult situations and complaints
• how to get your point/ideas across effectively.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is for students of English at Entry 3-Level 1 It is aimed mainly at fluent English speakers who can communicate in basic everyday situations but want to be more confident and articulate in their speaking, listening, reading and writing at work. It will be particularly useful if you are working in an office or would like to do that. It would be helpful to have some basic digital skills e.g. simple word processing and use of email.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

This will be a dyanamic, practical and interactive course with lots of practice including role play. Office situations will be created to help prepare you. You will need to do some study outside the classroom to get the most from this course.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

There are no additional costs but you should bring a pen, paper and folder to class.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?
