Work independently on your own jewellery projects in our well equipped jewellery workshop. This is an opportunity for self-directed and untutored bench time, sharing the studio with the year long VV413 Build beginners jewellery course.

What is the course about?

This is a self-directed study workshop running alongside VV413 Beginners jewellery year long course. It is an
opportunity for competent jewellers to work independently, in a well equipped jewellery studio. Available to intermediate and advanced jewellers who are familiar with the Build workshop, tools, equipment and health and safety procedures. Perfect for those looking to supplement or follow on their recent courses with additional workshop time to practise, perfect and progress their jewellery making.

17th September - 10th December 2018
14th January - 25th March 2019
29th April - 21st July 2019

No classes on Bank Holidays 6th and 27th May 2019.

What will we cover?

- Work independently on your projects to practice and refine your jewellery making skills.
- Plan, set and manage your own projects within your available time.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You must have an excellent working knowledge of techniques and processes in jewellery, to enable to you work
independently in the studio. You must be familiar with the Build workshop and able to demonstrate health and safety best-practice in the studio.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

This is a self-directed workshop, and is not tutored. The tutor will be able to assist with accessing tools and equipment but you are expected to work independently.

About your tutor:

Noon Mitchelhill

Noon Mitchelhill is an established jeweller who has been designing and making for over 20 years. Since graduating with a Masters from the Royal College of Art she has exhibited widely in the UK, Europe, Japan and the USA, and her jewellery has been featured in a range of publications. Noon works predominantly in silver and gold and regularly shows her work through selected galleries and exhibitions such as Contemporary Applied Arts, Made London and Handmade in Britain. Noon has over 20 years' teaching experience teaching and is the course leader for Build Beginners Jewellery course.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Build provides almost all the basic tools and equipment you will need for jewellery-making. You are expected to provide the materials for you self-directed projects.

You are advised that sensible footwear must be worn in studio 308. For heath and safety reasons, no sandals, open shoes & small pumps can be worn – even in hot weather.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Build offer a wide range of short and year-long courses in Jewellery design and making, from beginners to advanced, and for professional development.
