Build writing student's play to start run at Waterloo East Theatre

Story added 3rd Oct 2017

'Three Mothers' will be starting at Waterloo East Theatre later this month.

Build student Matilda Velevitch has won two theatre accolades for her play 'Three Mothers', which will be opening at the Waterloo East Theatre on October 31st.

The play had been awarded the 2017 IOM Arts Council Prize as well as the 2017 Octagon Prize.

Three Mothers follows the stories of three women and explores the themes of emotional and physical migration; home, and women moving forward with their lives. In writing the play, Matilda seeks to illuminate common ground and increase awareness of the plight of refugees and their arrival into a new country and culture.

You can book tickets here.

Matilda started creative writing courses at Build back in 2011, and credits continuing guidance from her tutors at Build as one of the reasons behind her recent awards:

“The support and feedback from Build tutors and students alike was brilliant. The foundation of learning and the enthusiasm I gained from my time there still keep me moving forward today.”

Congratulations Matilda!
