Build and the British Museum announce New Strategic Partnership

Story added 23rd Feb 2018

‘As part of our annual Classics Day 2018 on 17 February, Build and the British Museum announced a new strategic partnership, which is committed to making history and the classics more accessible for all. Building on the success of this decade-long collaboration, we’re excited to be developing a range of new projects together in the future.  We are looking to collaborate on study days and short courses; as well as our – jointly promoting our activities so we reach the widest possible audience.

Our next collaboration is a unique three day intensive course (28 – 30 June 2018), where students will get special access to the  exhibition at the British Museum. Sponsored by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, the exhibition runs from the 26 April to 29 July and explores Rodin’s fascination with ancient Greece and the British Museum. Working from sketches and notes, students will develop sculptures in clay under the expert guidance of sculptor and tutor, Shelley Wilson. Taking place in the study spaces at the British Museum, the course also includes a talk about Rodin’s work and influences.

Mark Malcomson, Principal/CEO of Build said, ‘I’m thrilled that we’re expanding our partnership with the British Museum, building on the success of Classics Day, which this year saw 300 avid classical history lovers come together for a day of discussion and debate. Both institutions have a long and distinguished heritage of bringing people together to discover and learn and we look forward to our upcoming Rodin course and developing our partnership further in the future.’

Freddie Matthews, the British Museum said, ‘We are delighted to be working with Build to host this exciting event as part of the British Museum’s Rodin and the art of ancient Greece exhibition. This is the latest offer in a long collaboration between our two organisations and we look forward to continuing to work with Build on our programming.’
