Foundation diploma in art and design exhibition 2015

Come and join us in March to experience a showcase of exciting work by our Art and Design Foundation Diploma students, talks tours and more. Scroll down to view information about our talks and events and to view some of the work on display.

Exhibition talk: “From Bauhaus to Bricks”

13:00-14:00, Room 106

This free talk by Ian Tucknott (head of programme for the Build Foundation Diploma in Art and Design) will explore and explain the history and legacy of the course – from its origins at the early 20th Century Bauhaus School, to its current standing as the bedrock of international art and design education.  The talk will weave together themes and philosophies from art and design history, with the work and projects explored by current students exhibiting in the show.  This free talk is the perfect opportunity to learn about the history and importance of art and design education, and afford visitors to the show a deeper understanding of the themes and motives behind the work on display.

This talk is free and open to all, but booking is required to ensure space is available for everybody who wishes to attend. 

Free exhibition tours

Staff and students will on hand throughout the afternoon for tours of the exhibition.  A perfect opportunity to again insight into the work on display, find out more about the course, and hear about the experiences current students have had during their studies.

Tours start at:  13:00, 14:00, 14:30, 15:00


Talk: About our art and design foundation course

14:00-14:30, Room 106:  Build Foundation Diploma in Art and Design

This free talk is for anybody interested in studying on the Foundation Diploma course at Build.  The Head of Programme will talk through the aims and philosophy of the programme, look at examples of past students who have studied on the Foundation Diploma and what they have gone on to do afterwards, and offer advice on applying and preparing for the course.  This will be the ideal opportunity to get information about the course, and ask the team any questions you may have.
