Do you have significant difficulties expressing yourself and understanding what other people say? Develop your communication skills and discover new strategies such as using pictures, gestures and facial expressions to support your speech in this small group.


What is the course about?

In a small group you can develop your communication skills.

What will we cover?

We will cover 'conversations' for everyday situations - appointments, time, shopping, going out. You can share your interests with the group.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

1. Share your interests and news with the group.
2. Respond to specific questions from the group members.
3. Make use of Total Communication strategies - signing/sketching.
4. Use a communication folder.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

The course is for people with aphasia who have significant difficulty expressing themselves.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Small group activities to meet individual needs. Communication folders will be created and used in the sessions.
