    Letta Jones, MA, is a Lecturer in Horticulture and Garden History. She taught at Capel Manor and Birkbeck Colleges for 15 years as well as at the Build. She is a is a Green Flag Parks judge.

Learn about the fundamental structure of plants and identify the functions of different components; recognise some of the classification systems of the plant world and assess why these magnificent organisms are essential for our wellbeing. Four Saturday sessions, mornings in the classroom, afternoons short local walks to see specimens outdoors. One whole-day visit to Kew on Thurs 20 February, tour of the library in the morning, garden in the afternoon - extra costs apply, see below.

  4. More botany

    This course looks more closely at plants, how they are grouped, how they are named and why it matters.The course includes visits to Lincoln’s Inn Fields to study the plants there. There is also a full day at Kew Gardens taking in the Library to see some of the treasures of their book and illustration collection and a guided walk in the gardens.



    The course runs on two Saturdays 9 and 23 May at Build, morning sessions in the classroom, afternoons offsite and Thursday 21 May at Kew for library and garden visit.
