British Sign Language (BSL) is an officially recognised language in its own right, with a unique grammatical structure. Using BSL will enable you to communicate with Deaf sign language users. Progress to advanced levels can also open up a range of employment opportunities to work with Deaf people. Build offers the fullest range of courses, enabling you to progress from introductory to level 6.
Are you on a level 1 or 2 BSL course and would like to improve your ability to use and understand BSL fingerspelling? This workshop is taught by a highly experienced teacher and provides a perfect opportunity to focus on this particular area of BSL.
Have you always wanted to learn British Sign Language and communicate with Deaf people? Develop the skills you need to gain the level 1 BSL qualification, accredited by Signature. The fees for BSL level 1 and 2 courses include a year's subscription to Signworld.
You may wish to study BSL without the pressure of an exam, or just for fun. We can arrange for you to be taught without a formal final assessment and you will receive a certificate of attendance.
Are you on a level 2 or 3 BSL course and would like to get a better understanding of how role shift and referents are used in BSL? This workshop is taught by a highly experienced teacher and provides a perfect opportunity to focus on this important area of BSL to improve your knowledge and fluency.

This is a one-off free session to give you a taste of what happens in a British Sign Language class. The class will be a fun and relaxed group where you will learn some basic signs in BSL. If you enjoy the class, you can discuss course options with the tutor at the end.
A brief introduction to the history of Deaf people in Britain and the development of British Sign Language. You can further explore this fascinating one day course by joining our deaf history part one course. This course is taught in BSL, with a BSL-English interpreter available.
Are you currently on a Level 3 course in BSL? If you need some guidance by an experienced teacher, this course will provide guidance and tips to help you develop strategies for how best to approach the level 3 receptive exam (Unit 321).
Ideal if you have passed level 2 in BSL and are ready to develop the knowledge and skills you need to achieve the level 3 qualification, accredited by Signature.
The course fee is £1211, plus an upfront fee of £188 payable at the time of your enrolment.

Ideal if you have completed level 3 in BSL and are ready to develop your skills towards level 4 standard. This is a new way to progress onto level 6. This is not an accredited course but you will work though a practical programme designed and taught by our experienced teachers. You will receive regular feedback and receive our own Build certificate of attendance.
This course is the language development part of the level 6 in BSL. Ideal if you have passed level 3 in BSL and you want to develop your skills up to the appropriate standard for progression to a level 6 qualification. Develop and establish fluency in your use of BSL in a variety of situations and registers, in both productive and receptive skills.
Have you achieved the level of knowledge and skills necessary to start your portfolio for your level 6 NVQ in BSL? Collect evidence and develop your portfolio with help from our experienced teaching and assessment team.
If you have passed level 1 in BSL but are not quite ready to do level 2, this course is for you. Practise storytelling, having conversations and presenting information to others in an unhurried and friendly class. This is not an exam class, but you will receive an attendance certificate.
