What is the course about?
The course will enable students to communicate more fluently in a wider range of everyday situations and conversations. The course will also give insight into cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries.
What will we cover?
Daily routine, work, means of transport, leisure activities, talking about the past, plans and intentions, health, shopping for food: quantities and prices, ordering food and drinks, saying what you have done recently.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- describe your daily routine
- talk about work
- talk about means of transport
- talk about things you can and cannot do
- say what you did yesterday
- talk about your plans and intentions
- talk about your health
- buy food and ask for prices
- ask for food in a restaurant
- say what you have or haven't done recently.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is intended for students who have completed Spanish 1 Fast-track: module 1 or who have an equivalent level of Spanish.

You will also need to be able to respond to simple instructions and explanations, as well as read course documents, in English. You will need to be at ease with the use of numbers for daily activities (e.g. using money, telling the time, using the 24 hour clock, reading timetables). It would also be helpful if you had some knowledge of basic grammar terminology such as: a verb, a noun and conjugation.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The course is based on the communicative approach:
- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate
Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.

Please note that the course book is used as a support only. You will not cover all the activities in the book during the course.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?
LBS32 Spanish 1 fast-track: module 3 in summer. Please enrol as soon as possible as spaces cannot be guaranteed.
