What is the course about?

Using material from ancient Sanskrit this course focuses on intermediate grammar, enabling the student to read and construct fairly complex prose.

What will we cover?

Athematic verbs and verb classes; rare nominal declensions; the passive voice; optative and imperative moods; present and future participles; Sanskrit compounds.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Read complex prose passages in the past present and future tense, in the active middle and passive voice; With the help of a dictionary you should be able to read Hitopadesa stories set for IGCSE Sanskrit option B.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You must be fluent in the Devanagari script; successfully completed Modules 1 and 2 of Sanskrit Level 2 at Build of have equivalent competency.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Weekly class room contact with interactive presentations and worksheets. You must be prepared to spend at least 3-4 hours outside the classroom for revision and homework.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

A catalogue of free online resources and a bibliography will be provided. You are liberty to invest in a primer that suits your budget. A file, loose paper and erasable pens would be practical.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Sanskrit Level 2 Module 1 from September.
