What is the course about?
This is a beginners course which will enable you to read basic Sanskrit in the Devanagari script.
What will we cover?
The alphabet in transliteration and the Devanagari script; commonly used noun declensions; most important verb conjugations.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Construct and read simple sentences in the present tense. You will also learn to chant a few popular shlokas in Sanskrit.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is a beginners course. You do not need any particular skill.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Classroom contact with interactions in both Sanskrit and English. Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

When I've finished, what course can I do next?
You can enrol for module 2, in which you will expand your vocabular, learn how to use pronouns and other grammatical
forms such as the gerund, the past and future tense, and be able to read prose passages appropriate to this level.
