Improve your lower intermediate Russian on this communicative course. The emphasis is on speaking and listening, and you will gain a basic grounding in Russian grammar.Suitable if you have completed Russian 2: module 2 or equivalent.

What is the course about?

This course aims to help you achieve a basic understanding of Russian so that you can get by in everyday situations.

What will we cover?

Themes: work and leisure; describing people; air travel.
Grammar: more on verbs of motion, conditional mood, animate accusative, personal pronouns, possessive pronoun, negatives, expressing the date.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

-talk about work and leisure

-describe people

-make travel arrangements / book a flight.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a level 2 course - Students should have completed approximately 1 year of study and the first two terms of this course. Students must be able to read the Cyrillic alphabet. They should also be able to communicate in most basic situations.

You will also need to be able to respond to simple instructions and read course documents in English and be at ease with the use of number for daily activities (e.g using money, telling the time, etc).

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course is based on the communicative approach:

- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate

Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.
