What is the course about?
This course aims to revise and build on the basics covered at level 1 (beginners), expanding the students' vocabulary, their command of functional phrases and developing an understandig of more complex structures.
What will we cover?
Body and health, food and diet, public services (bank, post office)
Grammar: adjectives, comparatives and superlatives, conditionals, subordinate clauses, nouns.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Make an appointment to see the doctor
Explain health issues
Make conditional statements
Write formal letters
Pay in and withdraw money from bank
Buy stamps at the post office
Send and receive letters
Report lost property
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Level 2 course - Students should have completed one year of beginners Greek and Modern Greek 2 lower: modules 1 & 2, or have an equivalent knowledge of the language.

You will also need to be able to respond to simple instructions and read course documents in English and be at ease with the use of number for daily activities (e.g. using money, telling the time, etc).
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The course is based on the communicative approach:
- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate
Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.
