Computing for Deaf People - Courses in London

Build offer computing classes at different levels for deaf people, from beginners to European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) level 2. Our tutors will help you find the right course to meet your needs. Classes are taught in BSL.

  1. Becoming confident on the Internet and email - for Deaf people

    Is the Internet a mystery to you? Do you want to surf the web efficiently and safely? This complete course for beginners will take you from very start of an internet connection to being able to search and use the web effectively to find information, complete forms, buy goods, watch TV on-line, and maintain security at all times. This course will take you from the setting up of web-based email accounts to be being able to use emails safely, securely and confidently in both formal and informal situations.

  2. Level 2 Certificate in IT User Skills (ECDL Extra) for Deaf people

    Do you want to learn the skills you need for office work or everyday life, and gain a qualification? Become confident in the core software applications used in every workplace: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and improving productivity using IT. If you pass, you will receive the BCS Level 2 Certificate in IT User Skills (ECDL Extra) This course is ideal if you have some working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel or have completed an ECDL level 1.

    This course is FREE if one of the following applies:





    a) You are employed and earn less than £20,572.50 . You need to have lived in the UK or EU for the last 3 years and be a citizen of the UK or a country within the EU. You may also be eligible for this funding in other circumstances. When you come for assessment or enrolment, bring a pay slip dated within 3 months of the course start date, or a current employment contract that shows your gross salary.

    b) You are either on Jobseekers' Allowance or Employment & Support Allowance (WRAG). Please bring proof of income to your assessment or enrolment.

    c) You receive other state benefits (including Universal Credit), earn less than £338 a month (individual claims) or £541 a month (household claims) and are doing the course to become employed or move into more sustainable employment.

  3. Giving a good presentation with PowerPoint 2016 - for Deaf people

    Are you new to word processing, spreadsheets and presentations? Join this course and learn how to use the most important basic features of Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2016. This course will give you the confidence to use the programs independently as well as follow your studies to a higher level. By the end of the course you will have improved your skills and gained a qualification, Level 1 ECDL award in IT user skills.
