  6. Sanskrit Vedic chanting: module 1

    Vac (speech) has been deified in Sanskrit culture since the time of the Rigveda. Properly articulated, Vedic scriptures are considered mystical and liberating. In this class we will learn Vedic recitation (mantroccarana) techniques from the Taittiriya school of the Yajurveda. Purifying pronunciation (uccarana-shuddhi) being the first step, texts for chanting will be taken from Vedic samhitas, brahmanas and upanisads. Bhakti literature and yoga mantras will be part of the corpus.
