Come and improve your vocal skills through voice production and speech exercises. Learn about self presentation, develop spontaneity and gain greater confidence by improving your communication skills in the workplace. Not for speakers of other languages.

What is the course about?

Improving vocal skills for business and professional people by creating spontaneity and confidence in vocal expression and with attention to articulation.

What will we cover?

The physicalisation of sound and words.
Confidence-building.
Communication skills.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Use your voice as an expression of yourself.
Demonstrate confidence in your ability to communicate through the voice.
Express the physical power and beauty of language.
Maintain vocal confidence when faced with new and/or challenging situations.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Beginners. It is for students whose first language is English. Speakers of other languages should enrol on Pronunciation and Self-Presentation.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Speak English fluently.
• Communicate in group situations.
• Give and receive constructive feedback.
• Read and respond to a range of texts.
• Take course notes for your own use.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Individual practical work. Work in pairs/small groups/large group. Theoretical input will be minimal and fed into practical sessions. You will need to prepare some exercises at home.

As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Please read around the subject of Voice work before you join the course. Please bring a notebook and pen to the class.
