Would you like to practise your upper-intermediate or advanced French by discussing culture, current affairs, cinema and more? This engaging course is suitable if you have studied French for at least four to five years or have an equivalent level.

Description

What is the course about?

This course aims to give you the opportunity to communicate in a French environment. You will increase your fluency and improve your accuracy and comprehension in an informal and friendly atmosphere.

What will we cover?

French culture, current affairs, cinema and more. Grammar points will be covered I necessary.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- express yourself confidentially on a variety of subjects

- understand and make comments on articles in French newspapers

- understand and speak about French TV programmes such as short news broadcast.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Students should have studied French for at least 5 years recently or have an equivalent knowledge of the language.
It is also essential that you have knowledge of more complex grammar terminology such as: the subjunctive, the conditional, direct and indirect speech, pronouns.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course is based on the communicative approach:

- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate

Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.
