Start your day happy and improve your fitness and sense of wellbeing in an uplifting, early morning dance class. Wake up and shake your body down to 60 minutes of sheer dance fun.

Description

What is the course about?

A dance workout involving a gentle, rhythmic warm-up followed by stretching and arm and feet combinations. Each fun class will culminate in an a dance sequence, which is developed the following week. A different array of styles and music from pop to musical to lyrical and a touch of Bollywood to cross all genres.

What will we cover?

Exercise for alignment, balance, flexibility, strength and stamina and dance action, promoting greater expression and musicality.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Use greater dynamic variety
Demonstrate better poise
Increase your staying-power
Perform a choreographed routine
Leave with a sense of early-morning pleasure!

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an open/general level class suitable for people who enjoy an early morning work-out and can commit to 60 minutes of sequenced, continuous action.

In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken instructions
• Use numbers to recognise rhythms within dance.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You learn practically, through physical demonstration, constructive tuition and guided practice.

HEALTH CHECK
You may or may not be asked to participate in rigorous activity from time to time. Please consider whether you could do this, if you are in any doubt consult a medical practitioner.

As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Please wear clothing that does not restrict your movement and allows you to adapt to changes in your body temperature. Tights, leotard, gym clothing etc that does not restrict your movement will allow your tutor to see your work more clearly. Jazz shoes/sneakers or similar, no outdoor shoes please. Jock straps should be work by men. Students to tie their hair back if it is long for their own safety and comfort. Jewellery should be removed at the start of the class.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Continue with Early Morning Dance or try a Jazz Dance: beginners class.

I would say, get up early so as not to be late for the class. Once you're there, you'll spend an hour doing dance warm ups and learning lots of new dances from Bollywood to the Charleston to Thriller by Michael Jackson! These are only a few. You get a great sense of being from the class!

This is a fantastic course. There is a variety of dance styles, each of them presented in a fun way. The teacher is very friendly and helpful, and he even manages to teach us some dance technique while still keeping the lesson easy going. We have lots of laughs and great fun in a really supportive environment. It's a wonderful way to start the day!

Early morning dance provides me with a good start to the day as it energises me before work. I like the combination of a regular warm-up with the wide variety of dance routine styles done over a term.
