What is the course about?
This course is an designed for anyone interested in using Photoshop on their own project work. Basic skills will be covered, working towards a greater understanding of the main features of Photoshop with a focus on using a Wacom pen and pad to draw directly into the computer. You will be given practical exercises but encouraged to develop your own design work at your own pace, building on your existing skills to develop your portfolio or experiment with ideas.
What will we cover?
- Photomontage and image manipulation
- Tools, adjustments and layers
- Experimenting with photographs or scanned artwork and
- Using a Wacom pen and pad as a painting and drawing tool
You will work on projects of your choice, relating to your own work, with guidance from the tutor.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- Scan images to the correct resolution
- Manipulate and transform layers to create original artwork
- Use filters, effects and blend modes
- Use a Wacom digital tablet and stylus to apply digital drawing and painting techniques
- Use photoshop creatively to develop your own projects.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is for those with experience in Photoshop who want to spend time developing their own work.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The course consists of structured practical exercises, discussions and demonstrations. One-to-one help and advice is given throughout. The computers used are Apple Macs.
Use of Adobe Photoshop outside the class will be beneficial which can be downloaded from Adobe.com for a 30 day trial for free and then for less than £10 per month. Https://creative.adobe.com/plans.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
Books are recommended but are not essential purchases. Printing costs are covered on the course.
