What is the course about?

We will look at basic fingerstyle techniques, simple chords and learn how to read some music notation.
This course is designed as an introduction to Classical guitar 1: module 1 starting in September.

What will we cover?

Play a small number of chords
Understand what harmony and melody are
Play several simple pieces
Learn some music theory
Understand musical terms.

By the end of this course you should be able to...

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Beginner - no previous knowledge required or desired.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Group and individual work, teacher demonstrations.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Please bring a nylon strung classical guitar, a pencil and eraser. You might also like to bring a folder to keep music copies and handouts safe.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Classical guitar level 1 starting in September.
