What is the course about?
The course aims to improve your fluency in reading Greek, especially works of literature, and to help you gain a greater knowledge of the structures of Greek Grammar.
What will we cover?
We shall be using the textbook John Taylor (ed) Beyond GCSE and the JACT Greek Anthology. Reading will be combined with grammar instruction and exercises.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- demonstrate knowledge of grammar and advanced verb forms
- evince a good grasp of other grammatical forms
- translate longer passages of Greek.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Lower intermediate level - you should have studied Classical Greek for about a year and a half or two years of Greek or have an equivalent knowledge of the language. As this course is taught in English, you should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English and also take part in class and group discussions on readings. Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support with your English skills to help you take part fully in this class.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Whole class work. Translation, grammar instruction, grammatical exercises. Homework: about 2-3 hours per week.

Please bring textbooks: John Taylor Beyond GCSE and the JACT Greek Anthology.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
Classical Greek 4 lower: Module 2.
