Build Pro courses are tailored for accelerated learning for busy people who need to learn key skills for the workplace. On this practical course you will learn the key tools, techniques and processes to produce your own short animations using Animate CC.

What is the course about?

In this short, fast track, practical course you will learn how to create drawn and cut-out animation using Adobe Animate cc. The course will cover professional processes including organising your workflow, use of layers ,keyframes, symbols, different form of tweening and motion paths. You will also learn how to export movies from Animate cc for use in different platforms.

Although this is a non-accredited course, students successfully completing the course will be awarded our CityLit Certificate - based on achievements of the course outcomes and attendance..

What will we cover?

This is a practical, fast track course covering the basic skills and techniques in creating effective animated sequences using Animate CC (Flash). You will learn how to use the drawing tools together with a Wacom tablet to create exciting drawn animations. You'll learn the use and advantages of different forms of symbols and tweening in developing your animated sequences. You'll be guided through using and synching sound, and exporting your work as animated movies.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

You will learn in a relaxed environment with a small group of up to 8 people.
- set up and use a Wacom Tablet
- use the drawing tools in Animate CC
- create drawn animations using keyframes and blank keyframes
- understand and apply different forms of symbols
- understand and apply different forms of tweening for animating shape morphs and animating transformations.
- create and use motion paths
- import sound and synch sound to animation in Animate CC
- export animated sequences as QuickTime movies.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a beginners course for those who are comfortable with working at a fast pace. You are expected to have a basic knowledge of using computers and are able to navigate and move files proficiently. Some experience with other related software from the Adobe Creative Suite would be an advantage but is not a requirement of the course.
You should also be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and be prepared to take part in group discussion. You should be happy using numbers and able to do simple measurements and calculations.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will be taught with workshops, short lectures, practical exercises, tutorials and handouts. Please note the Build uses Apple Mac computers in digital arts courses.
During the course you will be encouraged to practice the techniques you’ve learned outside the course time. Your learning will always be far more effective if you have access to the software outside of the class.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You can develop your animation skills further in the After Effects and Animation and moving image courses offered by Build. You can also use the work you create to access Higher Education courses in animation and the digital moving image.
