Description

What is the course about?

Chi Kung is a simple form of movement exercise which is both energising and relaxing. It is easy to learn. Chi is energy, life force, breath, and Kung simply means work, so energy cultivation through regular practice. You will learn more on the key principles and philosophy of Chi Kung and the Five Elements. Two of the Five Elements have been covered in Term 1 and a further two, which will be Water and Wood Elements will be covered here.

What will we cover?

A variety of warm-up exercises, static postures, gentle movements, slow walks and short standing or sitting meditations will be demonstrated and you will practise these along with the tutor. There will be emphasis on Wu Chi posture as well as ‘movement from the centre’ during practice.

What will I achieve?

:(in relation to Water and Wood Elements)

Rate of achievement is largely dependent on personal daily practice. It is recommended that you keep a diary of
your experiences for your own personal reflection purposes.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a for ‘all levels’ course; previous knowledge of Chi Kung is, of course, helpful but not essential
You will need to be able to read and write short sentences, follow verbal instructions, observe and copy physical movements and be aware of spatial awareness within a group.
