Description

What is the course about?

Continue learning to translate the Bible from Hebrew with confidence, understanding what translations are unable to convey.

What will we cover?

Further pa’al verb forms, plural possessive nouns and piel verbs.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- translate all pa’al verb forms, piel forms and all noun forms
- translate biblical verses with more confidence.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an intermediate course and requires Biblical Hebrew 1 or equivalent. As this course is taught in English, you should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English and also take part in class exercises and discussions. Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support with your English skills to help you take part fully in this class.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Students will be expected to read and translate in class, to do some exercises during the week and to learn vocabulary each week.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You will need to bring the textbook each week: The First Hebrew Primer Third Edition: The Adult Beginners Path to Biblical Hebrew by Simon Resnikoff and Motzkin, published by EKS, California. The sole importer to the UK is John Trotter, Manor House Books, www.manorhousebooks.co.uk 80 East End Rd, London N3 2SY, 020 8349 9484. The textbook costs £29.50 from the shop and can also be ordered from them via amazon.co.uk at £32.50 plus postage. It is also available slightly more cheaply - approx £27 - if you order it via amazon.com (NOT amazon.co.uk).

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Biblical Hebrew 2 module 2.
