Expand your understanding of bodywork using deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, soft tissue release and various others other techniques. Ideal for those with an ITEC qualification who wish to gain a broader range of skills.


What is the course about?

This course will give you the opportunity to learn new, advanced massage skills to add to those skills you already hold.

What will we cover?

- Deep tissue Massage techniques
- Compression techniques
- Neuro muscular technique
- Muscular Energy technique
- Trigger point
- PNF stretching
- Manipulation and mobility of joints.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Improve your ability to confidently apply a more advanced Massage technique to your treatment plan.
- Add to your existing Massage skills.
- Gain insight into introductory techniques used within Sports Massage.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You will need to have successfully completed the ITEC Holistic Massage Diploma and to be practising massage regularly.

- Cardiovascular disorders (high blood pressure, severe varicose veins, heart problems, thrombosis)
- Bone or joint disorders (Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis)
- Pregnancy (or post natal)
- Endocrine disorders
- Knee Problems (for Shiatsu, Thai massage and introductory massage courses only)
- Is there anything else we should know about your health before you enrol for a course? If there is, please let the Health & Movement Studies team know.

If accepted onto a course, a student could be given alternative practical tasks and adjustments may be made where reasonable. However, a student could be asked to leave the course if any situation were to arise which could endanger the well being of that student, or any other student. It is for instance not suitable to work on another student, if you are taking medication that affects your concentration or if you have uncontrolled fits which could cause a danger to others during a relevant activity.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Discussion; demonstration; practice; pair work; feedback and questions.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Please bring massage oil, a small bowl to put oil in and 2 towels. Preferably also, some antiseptic wet wipes and plasters in case of cuts/grazes.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Students can go on to study further courses at the Build including ITEC Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Sports Massage or On-site Massage.
