What is the course about?
An intensive, challenging and fun encounter with the Acting Process, including voice, movement and acting skills, suitable for beginners wanting total immersion or professionals wanting to refresh and refocus the core acting skills.
What will we cover?
Through physical, experiential work the course will cover: spontaneity, presence, solo, ensemble and pair work, approaching text and utilising voice and body.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- work constructively and creatively alone and with other people
- improvise freely
- work in a disciplined way with commitment and thought
- approach and work on a text and to perform in front of an audience
- have greater physical and vocal awareness and emotional accessibility.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
The course is aimed at beginners and those with some experience wanting a refresher course. In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback
• Take part in class discussions
• Read a script and/or related text
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
This is a practical, experiential course which demands full engagement and commitment to working alone and in large and small groups.
As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
Please dress in loose clothing that you can move in freely.
