What will we cover?

Looking at modern play texts you will work on scene extracts towards in-class performances for immediate and engaging feedback to support your creative ownership of scenework processes.

Please note that acting classes by their very nature can involve exercises and the exploration of material that some students may find challenging.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- perform modern and classic texts without feeling self-conscious.
- have a basic understanding of stage presence through acting the text.

You will do this through practical experience of acting text.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Some experience will help you identify with the problems of interpreting texts. Not for complete beginners.
I order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
- Listen actively and communicate clearly.
- Give and receive constructive feedback.
- Read and analyse scripts to find meaning, clarity, identify themes and imagery.
- Take notes.
- Recognise and use iambic pentameter and gain a practical awareness of rhythm for speaking all textxt.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Group and pair work when appropriate - depending on cast demands of the play to be studied.

As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
